Bali Visa On Arrival Update - All Indonesia Arrival Card

Travelling to Bali just got a little different for New Zealanders. As of now, all international travellers, including Kiwis, are required to complete an All Indonesia Arrival Card before entry. This new digital process replaces paper-based arrival and customs forms and applies to everyone, whether visiting Bali on a Visa on Arrival (VOA) or another visa type.

What is the All Indonesia Arrival Card?

The All Indonesia Arrival Card is an online form that must be filled out before travelling. It records passenger details, travel information, and customs declarations. Once submitted, travellers receive a QR code that will be scanned on arrival at Indonesian international airports, including Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali.

This card is compulsory for all international travellers entering Indonesia, regardless of nationality, visa type, or purpose of travel. It does not replace your visa, it works alongside it.

Key Requirements for New Zealand Travellers

Two things are required:

1. A visa (for most Kiwis, this will be a Bali Visa on Arrival).

2. The All Indonesia Arrival Card, completed online before travel.

  • The All Indonesia Arrival Card must be filled out within 72 hours of arrival.
  • Each traveller, including children, must complete their own card.
  • A QR code will be issued after submission. Keep it handy on your phone or in print.

Bali Visa on Arrival (VOA) - What You Still Need to Know

Most New Zealanders visiting Bali for up to 30 days will continue to use the Visa on Arrival (VOA) system. This can be extended to a maximum of 60 days if needed.

  • Cost: Around IDR 500,000 (approx. NZD $50).
  • Available for single entry only.
  • Payable upon landing at Ngurah Rai International Airport or online before travel.
  • Still required in addition to the All Indonesia Arrival Card.

What's Changing for Travellers

Previously, you could complete paper forms on the plane or upon arrival. Now, all travellers must complete the card online before departure. This means a little more planning is needed ahead of your trip to Bali.

For Kiwis planning to visit Bali, ensure you:

  • Apply for your All Indonesia Arrival Card within 72 hours of departure.
  • Arrange your Visa on Arrival (VOA) or other visa type depending on the length of stay.
  • Keep copies of both your QR code and visa receipt for smoother entry into Indonesia.

Final Tips of Entering Indonesia

  • Double-check your passport has at least six months’ validity.
  • Have proof of onward or return travel ready.
  • If applying online, keep both your visa confirmation and arrival card QR code accessible.
  • Allow extra time at immigration, especially during peak holiday period.

Summary

To travel to Bali smoothly, New Zealanders now need to complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card online within 72 hours of travel, in addition to their Bali Visa on Arrival. This update streamlines immigration and customs, helping international travellers enter Indonesia more efficiently.
