How does regional Fast Bag work?

How does regional Fast Bag work?

Fast Bag lets Elite, Gold, Elite Partner and Koru members speed through regional travel by dropping off and picking up their bags right beside the aircraft on Air New Zealand regional domestic flights.

From 1 February 2020 a new limit of one Fast Bag at 15kg will apply, instead of two bags. Customers travelling with more bags, or a bag weighing more than 15kg (and no more than 23kg), will need to check these in normally.

Any oversized, overweight, fragile, sporting items, carseats/strollers still need to be checked in within the terminal before boarding.

How it works:

  • When you arrive at the airport you will need to check in your Fast Bag.
  • At the check-in kiosk, select Fast Bag and attach the printed bag tag to your bag. If you're checking in at the airport counter, let one of the Air NZ team know that you have a Fast Bag.
  • Once your bag has been tagged, it needs to be on the bag drop before this closes - 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time.
  • After your flight arrives at your destination you can collect your bag from the Fast Bag collection area as you exit the aircraft.

You can only use Fast Bag if:

  • Your ticket includes one piece of checked-in baggage. This could be a seat+bag, flexichange or flexirefund ticket. If you are travelling on a seat only ticket, you can upgrade your ticket to seat+bag online
  • You're travelling with just one checked bag
  • Your bag weighs less than 15kg and is not oversized (such as bikes or golf bags)
  • Your bag does not contain any restricted items, like spare or loose batteries
  • Your flight has no stopovers or connections
